Oil Change

Benefits of regular Car Oil Change.

One of the simplest routine maintenance every car need is regular change of engine oil. Changing engine oil drains the old oil and replaces it with fresh oil. This has several advantages. Foremost, changing oil ensures smooth running of the engine components. This is by drawing heat from the combustion chamber. The engine is ideally a hot car part and the engine over time breaks the oil therefore reducing its heat absorption capability. It is essential that the engine remains cool to be able to function effectively without overheating. Noteworthy, heat causes wear and tear of the engine and may also cause the engine to blow up.

Secondly, changing oil prevents the buildup of sludge in the engine that eventually cause clogging of engine. Although there are many factors that cause formation of sludge in the engine, changing engine oil keeps its formation at bay. Formation of sludge in the engine may be explained by the fact that as oil collects particles such as dust it becomes less of liquid and more of sludge.

It also helps prevent most of the metal to metal contact inside the engine. However, with the metal that comes into contact with each other, clean engine oil lets the metal press against each other creating no damage. For instance, engine oil lubricates piston walls so that they do not seize.

Old oil consequences

Old oil undoubtedly contains impurities such as carbons , metal, burnt water and burnt. This dirt is caused by the oil collecting combustion residues and even the environmental dust so to protect the engine. This is so because oil can absorb such components and hold them in suspension. However, it reaches a point when oil cannot absorb the impurities further and consequently the impurities remain in the engine and eventually can cause corrosion.

Although the engine filters helps remove dirt and other impurities, failure to change oil over time will however clog the engine filters causing the impurities to pass the filters . Moreover, some of the dust may be too small to be caught in the engine filters. Most filters in this regard are not capable of trapping physical properties that are less than 25 microns.

In addition, changing oil regularly ensures that the engine has at all times adequate supply of oil. This is essential for proper lubrication and less friction. The importance of smooth lubrication cannot be overemphasized. When the engine is running on low oil, it causes teared lubrication that consequently exposes metal to metal rubbing. This is because without lubrication, the engine parts are directly rubbing against each other.

Most importantly, oil change helps save on money spent on fuel or having engine repair. Ideally, old oil is sticky and therefore the engine has to work harder. This causes the burning of more fuel. Furthermore, oil loses its additives over time rendering in ineffective. Certain additives in engine oil help keep the engine oil and prevent gum, sludge and varnish. Furthermore, additives have the ability to neutralize acids.

Don't wait too long before to change your car oil

Finally, you know that it is time to change oil when you notice certain signs such as when the engine is running louder than usual. This louder noise could only be explained by the fact that since there is no adequate oil I the engine, the guts are now grinding against each other therefore producing the noise. More so, when the engine oil changes color to black instead of its original honey brown colour it is a sign that you need to change engine oil.
